The flaming idiot Fish was a "fish" found on the waterworld Droplet. It was named by Bralik because of its bright orange color and willingness to go and be eaten when called.

The flaming idiot fish is technically not a fish, as it does not have a spine made of bone, instead having one made of cartilage. The fish was bio-engineered by the squales as a food source, explaining why it was willing to be eaten. (TTN novel: Over a Torrent Sea)
