Flax was a Ferengi male, and only son of Bok, who lived in the 24th century.

From a young age it became obvious to Flax that his father wanted him to follow in his footsteps. Through bribery Flax was always assigned the best and most expensive tutors, and Bok's bribery continued as Flax moved up the chain of command until he was finally promoted to DaiMon and granted command of the Raider-class scout, Seventy-Fifth Rule in 2355.

On his first mission as daiMon, Flax took the Seventy-Fifth Rule into the Maxia Zeta star system on a survey mission. What they discovered was a system full of mineral-rich planets which contained elements such as dilithium, latinum and verterium. Flax believed that the Great River had indeed been kind to him and with this discovery he could gain a large percentage of the wealth that the system would provide for the Ferengi Alliance.

Unfortunately, Flax was unable to see any of his plans come to fruition as the Federation starship, USS Stargazer was also on a survey mission in the system and was approaching the Seventy-Fifth Rule's position in orbit of Maxia Zeta V. As the Stargazer had yet to have detected the Ferengi scout, Flax decided to launch an attack upon the vessel.

The initial attack proved very successful and the Stargazer was seriously damaged, and destruction seemed a distinct possibility. Unfortunately, the ingenuity of Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Stargazer in tricking the Seventy-Fifth Rule{'s by initiating a warp jump and fooling their sensors, led to the destruction Ferengi vessel and Flax's death by a salvo of phaser fire and six photon torpedoes.
