A Starfleet Fleet is a military unit consisting of hundreds of Starfleet starship vessels operating in groups, wings and flights, usually based at a Federation starbase or member planet's sector.

The RPG The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon, published by Last Unicorn Games after they had lost their Star Trek licence, states that usually, the lower-numbered fleets were the largest and most well supported, higher-numbered fleets were used to support and reinforce. There were 44 individual fleets in 2373 at the beginning of the Dominion's war. The book also lists the following additional fleets:
