Fluorine is a highly reactant element, existing normally as a diatomic molecule.

Borg drones are apparently immune to oxidization, as fluorine is one of the compounds found in the preferred Borg atmosphere, along with carbon monoxide and methane. (TNG movie, novelization & comic adaptation: First Contact)

In an alternate timeline where the Borg were able to assimilate entire star systems in the Alpha Quadrant, increasing levels of fluorine were noted in the atmospheres of Alpha Centauri and Andor while the Borg adapted their worlds. (ST novel: Engines of Destiny)

Zaran II was home to microbes which released fluorine as a waste product. Zaranites mainly breathed oxygen, but required trace amounts of fluorine, much as other humanoids required base minerals in their diets, and thus wore breathing masks and backpacks which supplied them with the gas while in class M environments. (TOS novel: Ex Machina, TOS - Mere Anarchy eBook: The Darkness Drops Again)
