Ten ForwardAlternate Realities (Reply | Watch)

Seeing the number of multiple, informationally light entries for the alternate Enterprises that appeared in Q & A, and in anticipation of the upcoming Star Trek: Myriad Universes books, I wonder what is the best way to deal with information from altered realities. Should alternate versions of people and ships have their own pages, or included on the main page? If separate pages, should every alternate Enterprise, for example, have its own page, or should they all be gathered into a single "USS Enterprise (Alternate)" article? If one page, should it include alternate Enterprises from multiple stories? What are your thoughts? --Seventy 03:20, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

What about one page called Enterprise (Alternate) for each book/series. For example Enterprise (Alternate) (Q&A) or something along those lines.--Long Live the United Earth 03:28, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I would be happy to see the system which has largely been used to date of putting an alternate universe/timeline/versions section on whatever the subjects usual universe page is and putting the info there - only putting it on a different page if the subject goes by a different name. --8of5 12:58, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree with that, with the exception of mirror universe counterparts -- as they are fundamentally different people, with different loyalties, ranks, etc.
The key might be to look at a character's overall summary to see how different they are from the original. Travis Mayweather differs a lot from his mirror duplicate -- one is a command division helm ensign for United Earth Starfleet while the other is a MACO sergeant for Terran Empire Starfleet. Also, one is an assassin while the other seems to be a pushover. Obviously enough differences to fill two articles.
However, other characters from alternate timelines do not differ in any way. Branson has a duplicate in an alternate reality -- but they are both command division conn lieutenants on the Federation Starship Enterprise-E -- fundamentally the same person, not really a lot of "meat" to fill out a second article. Branson's main article can note that, somewhere/somehow, there is an alternate reality where he didn't die -- but that that version of him is not different in any known way from the 'original'. -- Captain MKB 16:28, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
