Sorry if this question seems simple, but I'm still figuring out how the whole wiki language works. Is there a way to include category lists in articles? Or add additional text to category lists? For example, there is an article on the Terran Rebellion. While there are several members of the Rebellion with their own articles on this site, the list of members on the Rebellion page does not refer to them, but is a manually edited list. Would there be a way for the list on the Rebellion page to automatically change every time an article is added to a "Terran Rebellion members" category? --Data Noh 15:51, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't think there is an ability to do that with categories no. The only way to add the additional members to the Rebellion to the page, unfortunately. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. --Flag of the United Kingdom VOTE SAXON AdmTlk 15:58, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
To my knowledge no, but really we shouldn't aim to have both, the article on the rebellian should note the most important members within the text, a link to the category can the supply the complete list. In the case of a subject with minimal members then the question is do you list them on the page or make a category, a species in which only two or three people are known isn't really worthy of a category so those people should be listed on the page. (In my opinion at least). -- 8of5 15:59, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

This is not related to that but I was wondering if a new category called "Historical figures" should be introduced? Could include; Surak. Sudoc, Kahless, Morath, Molor, Lor'Vela, Krotus, Khan Noonien Singh, S'Task, Tenakruvek etc. Essentially, any character that has had a huge impact in their races history whether as a tyrant or as a visionary. What do you guys think? -- Darth Batrus 13:19, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't see why not, after all we have a category dedicated to Category:Religious figures. So I'm all for it. --The Doctor 12:20, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
You'd have to strongly define what gets in though, is it anyone said have been around and done something a while ago? And when does history start, Kirk or Archer are significant historical figures to the TNG era guys. -- 8of5 15:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

ImagesEdit

A large number of images are categorized under the Category:Non-canon Star Trek Wiki images heading and its many subcategories and presumably these should all be under Category:Memory Beta images. Is this something that would be easy for a bot such as those at Memory Alpha to do? I was also wondering exactly how the subcategories should work. I assume it is the same as the non-image categories, but I am not sure of the answer. If something is put in a subcategory say Memory Beta images (Humans) should it also be in (Characters)? What about extra categories like (Starfleet personnel), (Enterprise personnel), etc. is there any reason not to add them? Same question with (covers), (novel covers), (TNG novel covers), etc. It looks to me like there must be some automatic way for articles in a subcategory to automatically be placed in the larger category as well and also a way for it not to automatically happen. But I don't know what that is or which way is preferred. --Jdvelasc 14:25, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
