Captainmike just added a Federation colour to the facilities template, which is a more than reasonable action and a well chosen colour, however it reminded me how jarring I find some of the colours. I think they are nice touch but sometimes don’t work well in big blocks behind text, the Klingon red for instance is a little difficult to read, however if you tone it done you end up with a pink. So how about the affiliation colouring only applying to the top name bar with the standard pale blue for the rest?

Also, if that's done or not I think we could make a template to be used within all the templates with a palette of standard colours for the races, then if we decide to change or add a colour it should only need to be done to one template to update them all. -- 8of5 16:10, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

re: Templates for the colors -- Sounds reasonable to me. Also, the Klingon/red problem might also be solved by enlarging/bolding the black text, or by making the text a different color. Barring that, if you find a red that is a bit orange, it might remove the pink problem -- and also better match the Klingon's color scheme seen on Trek, to boot -- they definitely used oranger-reds! (same goes for the Romulans, who used not the forest green we do, but a more turquoise-y grayish green) -- Captain M.K.B. 16:29, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Some good examples there, and I quite like most of the colors. They've got some good templates set up over on the STEU, which we could look at for inspiration.
