Fredericks was an enlisted member of Starfleet serving on the Federation starship USS Enterprise-C in 2344.

When Enterprise responded to a Klingon distress call from Narendra III, Fredericks was one of the lucky crewmembers who survived the initial volleys of Romulan torpedoes that caused severe damage to the Enterprise. He was made a member of Richard Castillo's bridge crew, as a helmsman, after the death of Captain Rachel Garrett while the vessel was temporally displaced to the year 2366. Fredericks is presumed to have died during the destruction of the vessel after the crew made their way back to 2344. (TNG episode: "Yesterday's Enterprise")
