Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben
Baron Friedrich Wilhelm Ludolf Gerhard Augustin von Steuben (September 17, 1730 – November 28, 1794) was a Human German who served as George Washington's chief of staff in the American Revolutionary War. He is credited for writing the field manuals for George Washington which helped lead the American forces to victory.
In 2290, the USS Excelsior had a shuttlecraft named for von Steuben. (ST novel: Excelsior: Forged in Fire)
