The G'kkau were a reptilian race of raiders that existed somewhere in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant of the galaxy.
Biology[]
Distinctly reptilian, the G'kkau somewhat resembled a Gorn, except that the G'kkau seemed even less humanoid. Iridescent green scales glittered over their exposed head and shoulders. A long, flat snout, much like a Terran crocodile's, protruded from their skulls, and their tongues flick in and out to smell. Their ability to smell gave them more information about an entity's intentions rather than just by sight and sound, giving them the capability to literally smell someone's fear or resolve. Pendulous dewlaps hanged from their throat. A pair of yellow eyes, marked by thin black pupils, were lodged above the origin of the snout, beneath a sloping, scaly brow. A transparent third eyelid blinked rapidly over their lizard-like eyes. A G'kkau's body routinely traveled on all fours rather than erect, dragging their bellies along the floor. They preferred heat, humidity, and near darkness, and they based the internal designs of their battleships accordingly.
History[]
The reptilian conquerors had long been a threat to peace in a neighboring sector of the Dragon Empire. Ever since achieving starfaring status several centuries ago, the G'kkau had systematically pillaged many weaker and less advanced species.
Some time before 2370, the G'kkau committed the massacre on Snokomie IV, during which an entire race of intelligent avians was executed and consumed. Later they had designs on the Dragon Empire, sending a warship to plunder the small empire. Starfleet had feared the G'kkau might have designs on the Dragon Empire and sought to hasten the treaty bringing the Empire into the fold of Federation, ensuring the Empire's protection.
Culture[]
The G'kkau were little better than a race of pirates, really, and no genuine menace to the Federation, the Romulans, or any of the galaxy’s known superpowers, but many atrocities the G'kkau had inflicted upon unsuspecting peoples and planets gave them a reputation as butchers.
Technology[]
The G'kkau utilized chemical indicators on their ships, and transmitted olfactory data through communications channels.
