Gaelic was a language type and culture in the British Isles on Earth. Two well known forms of Gaelic language were Scottish Gaelic (from Scotland) and Irish Gaelic (from Ireland, often referred to simply as the Irish language or Irish).

Montgomery Scott often cursed in Gaelic. One of his colorful swears was, "Borgis frat!" (TOS novel: The Better Man, TOS episode: "I, Mudd", TOS movie: Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)

Scotty, in a euphoric mind state, had also sung in the dialect. (TAS episode: "The Lorelei Signal")
