In an alternate timeline, the Galileo was a civilian transport vessel in the mid 23rd century. In early 2264, the Galileo was charged with transporting seven people from Earth to planet Vulcan at the invitation of the Vulcan Science Academy. However, in a tragic error, the Galileo was destroyed crossing into Interstellar Coalition space by the ICV Vanik. All aboard were killed, including Dr. Carol Marcus Kirk and her young son, David.
