Gamma Trianguli was a star with an associated star system, located in the Gamma Trianguli sector in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. Gamma Trianguli was visible from Earth (118 light-years distant) in the constellation of Triangulum.

History and specifics[]

It was an A type blue-white star. (ST reference: Star Charts, real-world astronomy)

The Worlds of the Federation and Star Trek Maps listed it as a yellow giant.

The Gamma Trianguli system's orbit was the location of a number of worlds, including sixth planet Gamma Trianguli VI, homeworld to a humanoid race called the Vaalians. (TOS episode & Star Trek 6 novelization: The Apple)

Three asteroid belts, 11 planets, and five large moons were located in the system. The outermost four planets were gas giants, with the eighth and ninth planets having ring systems. (ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation)

In the year 2376, Gamma Trianguli was the destination of the USS Prokofiev, following stops at Starbase 129 and Edos. (NF - No Limits short story: "The Road to Edos")

In 2386, Doctor Geoffrey Mandel included Gamma Trianguli in his Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385 star chart, denoting it to be in the general vicinity of Platonius, the Sahndara Nebula, Starbase 214, and the Talarian Republic. (ST reference: Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library)
