Gav was a male Tellarite who served as a Federation ambassador in the mid 23rd century. He was a contemporary of Ambassador Sarek of Vulcan against whom he had lost many arguments.

In 2268, he was to attend the Babel Conference to decide the question of Coridan's membershi into the Federation. However, he was murdered en route, using the tal-shaya technique, by an Orion agent posing as an Andorian named Thelev. (TOS episode: "Journey to Babel")

Alternate universesEdit

In one alternate timeline, Gav was the Tellarite representative to the Interstellar Coalition, and represented Tellar when United Earth petitioned for membership into that body. (Star Trek: Myriad Universes novel: A Less Perfect Union)
