The Gemini class was a 23rd century Federation starship type, a tier 4-rated cruiser class in Starfleet service in the 2260s and 2270s decades. When a new front of the Temporal Cold War opened in the 25th century, the Gemini-class was recommissioned as a temporal cruiser in Starfleet and Khitomer Alliance service in the 2400s and 2410s. History and specifics[]
Structurally, the Gemini class consisted of a saucer section positioned in front of a quartet of warp nacelles, each held by its own nacelle pylon. The engineering hull ran through the center of the saucer, with the shuttlebay nestled between the nacelle pylons and the deflector dish at the bow of the saucer.
The integration of the saucer and engineering hull was reminiscent of the contemporary Perseus-class escort. (STO website: Agents of Yesterday : 23rd Century Ship Stats)
Another two-nacelled aesthetic predecessor was the late 22nd century USS Bonaventure (NCC-1000). (TOSC Issue Special 12: "USS Bonaventure")
Starfleet had previously a four-nacelled design with the Cardenas-class. (Star Trek Adventures module: Discovery (2256-2258) Campaign Guide)
Legacy[]
This quad-nacelled design inspired the Constellation-class cruiser. (STO website: Agents of Yesterday : 23rd Century Ship Stats)
In the 26th century, the Sagittarius-class temporal cruiser was based on the 23rd century Gemini class. (STO website: Agents of Yesterday : 26th Century Ship Stats)
