A geologist or exogeologist is an individual who conducts research and studies in the field of planetary geology.

In the 23rd and 24th centuries, Federation starships carried a geologist aboard as part of their complement of science division officers. (TOS episodes: "The Enemy Within", "The Squire of Gothos" & "That Which Survives"; TNG episode: "The Bonding")
