In the mirror universe, Gilaad Ben Zoma is the Terran captain of the Rebel starship Stargazer, at least in the year 2333. His crew includes Montgomery Scott and Gerda Idun Asmund. He captained the ship during the mission to kidnap Phigus Simenon from the "real" universe. Presumably, he also led the Stargazer in a battle with a Klingon bird-of-prey several weeks prior, in which Andreas Nikolas and the mirror Phigus Simenon died. (STA novel: Three)
