Gralev was a female Andorian Starfleet officer who served as Captain of the USS Gagarin. In 2279, when her ship was attacked and boarded by Klingons, she initiated the self destruct to keep it from falling into enemy hands. The Klingons were able to beam her and twenty-eight members of her crew to their own vessel, taking them prisoners of war. Gralev was later tortured to death by her captors for military intelligence.
