Granite is a widely found rock which is commonly found on most planets.

At the southern polar region of Torgu-Va there is an area of limestone that is close to the surface with a layer of granite underneath that. This was the location that the Human survivors had started digging the Federation Battle Station Torgu-Va. (TNG novel: The Forgotten War)
