Gus was a bulldog owned by Alice Fontana during the 21st century.
In 2020, while Fontana was aboard the USS Lewis & Clark exploring Saturn, her mother cared for Gus. When James T. Kirk's mind was transported downtime to 2020 from 2270 and into Shaun Geoffrey Christopher's body, Kirk made the mistake of asking Fontana if Gus had sent her an e-mail, not realizing that Gus was a dog.
