For other uses, see Haakona.

Haakona (Haakona Prime) was a planet located near the border of the Romulan Star Empire, opposite from the side containing Earth and the Coalition of Planets.

At some time point before 2156, Praetor D'deridex's father, who had also been Praetor, had invaded and occupied Haakona. This invasion ended in failure and many lives were lost in the battle for Haakona.

Then, in 2156, D'deridex ordered Admiral Valdore to invade Haakona while continuing the War against Earth. This second invasion again ended in disaster, as the Haakonans had been receiving technology from Vulcan and had mastered the power of the system's sun, allowing them to batter the Romulan warfleet. From this point the Haakonans would begin a series of attacks against Romulan targets, forcing Valdore to divert ships from the Earth front. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

On Thursday, December 29 in 2157, the Romulans won the war with the Haakonans by unleashing the Loque'eque mutagenic virus upon them, effectively eliminating the entire species. This gave the Romulans the chance to focus their resources on their war with Earth. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: To Brave the Storm)
