Hall of State

The Hall of State (2379).

The Hall of State is the Romulan Star Empire's seat of government. Located in the center of the capital city of Ki Baratan, the Hall of State houses the Romulan Senate and the offices of the Praetor of the Romulan Star Empire. The Senatorial chambers contain an expansive depiction of the Romulan Neutral Zone on the chamber floor. The Hall of State also contains a massive library used by many Romulan scholars. (TNG movie: Star Trek Nemesis; TTN novel: Taking Wing)

The Hall of State also has a gallery from which citizens can watch what takes place in the Senate. Spock and his assistant Kerit were in this gallery while the Senate debated entering the Dominion War in 2374. (ST short story: "Blood Sacrifice")

In the 2380s, Ambassador Spock and Admiral Jean-Luc Picard would both, on separate occasions, stand in the Hall of State and address the Senate about the impending supernova which threatened to destroy Romulus. (ST movie: Star Trek, PIC episode: "Absolute Candor")

Background information[]

The name "Hall of State" was first given by the 1999 novel Vulcan's Heart prior to being canonized in the 2020 episode "Absolute Candor".
