The Halogians are a sentient race from the rim of the Milky Way Galaxy, somewhere in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. Though existing near to the United Federation of Planets, they were rejected for Federation membership.

History and specifics[]

The Halogians had applied for membership to the United Federation of Planets four times between the years 2253 and 2266, but were rejected on each count. An insulted minority sought revenge on the planet Earth for the insult. Believing the theory that Jupiter was a failed star, they sought to induce stellar fusion and destroy Sector 001. They first attempted this in 2254 only for the attack craft to be intercepted and destroyed by the Starfleet starship USS Enterprise.

In 2266, the Halogian rogues made another attempt to destroy Jupiter, this time managing to reach the planet and firing a radiation beam into it — only to be destroyed by the USS Exeter. (ST - Captain's Log comic: "Captain's Log: Pike")
