CEF-Trooper

Ellison as Trooper.

Background[]

Ellison wrote the TOS episode: "The City on the Edge of Forever", although he was displeased at how Gene Roddenberry and others on the TOS season 1 writing staff ended up editing it. Over the years, the feud between Ellison and the TOS writing staff continued, although Ellison won acclaim and awards for the content of his original version, and was able to publish it, both as a script and a later comic adaptation. Harlan Ellison's The City on the Edge of Forever was notably the first Star Trek episode to be adapted in comic form in America.

Trooper, a veteran of World War I, was modeled after Ellison, in TOS comic: "Harlan Ellison's The City on the Edge of Forever, Issue 5".
