The Hawk class heavy battlecruiser was a type of starship used by the Romulan Star Empire.

This class of vessels were developed after the initial Borg Collective threat that struck the Romulan Neutral Zone in 2364. After seeing the power of this force, the Romulan military began researching more advanced systems as well as ship designs to combat this threat. The project was accelerated after the Battle of Wolf 359 when intelligence reports revealed the capabilities of this new foe. The Hawk class was the first of the new ships designs that were created by the research initiative. It shares many of the standard 'warbird' design features and is both well armed as well as maneuverable making it a capable strike ship with its cloaking device allowing it to function in heavy combat duties.
