Hess

Lieutenant Hess was a 22nd century Human woman, an Earth Starfleet officer assigned to the Enterprise's engineering section. In 2151, she served as acting chief engineer while Commander Trip Tucker was off the ship. (ENT episode: "Shuttlepod One")

Hess had a relative who worked in a vineyard in the Champagne region of France. She was therefore able to have a magnum of champagne brought aboard the Enterprise, which was opened for the New Year's celebrations at the end of 2151. (ENT novel: What Price Honor?)

In 2153, when the Enterprise entered an alternate timeline and was captured by the Denari, Hess and K.P. Ryan were forced by Colonel Peranda to run the starship for him. (ENT novel: Daedalus's Children)

In 2155, Hess was present when Mike Burch was forced to shut down the warp core in order to avoid a breach. (ENT novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)
