Home fries were a potato based food dish, made by boiling, and then frying diced potato, they are commonly eaten as part of a breakfast.

In 2376 Vic Fontaine had home fries as a side dish to his breakfast omelet and coffee. He offered the same dishes to Nog, who did not know what home fries were. (DS9 novel: Avatar)
