The Homeworld is the planet from which a race originated.

Homeworlds tend also to be the capital planet of interstellar states. A Homeworld does not have to be the planet which the species evolved on, the term can also be applied to adoptive homes such as Romulus for the Romulans. For some species, such as the Ascendants, the location of their home world has been lost in time as they spread out into the galaxy. (DS9 novel: Rising Son)
