Horror is a genre of arts and entertainment where the narrative and imagery are intended to create a reaction of fear and/or revulsion.

History and specifics[]

Frequently, the horror genre will employ a narrative about a monster in order to elicit a fear reaction from an audience.

Horror movies[]

Horror movies are one type of media in this genre.

Trip Tucker was a fan of vintage 20th and 21st century horror films. (ENT episodes: "Horizon", "Stigma", etc.)

In the 23rd century, a film archivist working on a Federation outpost was an enthusiast of this sort of entertainment. Captured by Klingons, he was placed in a thought enhancer device. This caused a number of thought projections of horror movie characters to plague the Klingons' target, the Starfleet starship USS Enterprise. (TOS comics: "The Haunting of Thallus!", "The Haunting of the Enterprise!")

Tom Paris was a fan of vintage 20th century horror films. (VOY episode: "Future's End", etc.)
