The IKS Kluggoth was a K't'inga class starship in service to the Klingon Empire. It was specially outfitted with a stasis projector.

History[]

Kluggoth orbited the planet Hephaestus in the year 2274, arriving some time before the USS Enterprise arrived to negotiate for mining rights. It was a planet which, according to the Organian Peace Treaty, could compete with the Federation for an alliance.

After an autopsy of a Hephaestan revealed a subcutaneous symbiont in the victim, Commander Kagg confronted the doctors and revealed his plan to circumvent the treaty to James T. Kirk. He then ordered Kluggoth to fire the stasis projector at the Enterprise. The weapon disabled the starship’s impulse engines and transporter. It also set the matter/antimatter generators into a condition where they would overload within four hours.

The ship’s second-in-command had been unable to reach Kagg. As Kluggoth’s energy reserves dropped to a point where it could no longer maintain the stasis field, it released the Enterprise. Kluggoth retreated from Hephaestus after Kagg was killed in an explosion of his own making. (TOS comic: "All the Infinite Ways")
