"IRW" is a prefix appearing before ship's names in the Imperial Fleet of the Romulan Star Empire. It is short for "Imperial Romulan Warbird." (TNG episode: "Face of the Enemy")

"Face of the Enemy" was the first and only canonical use of this prefix for Romulan ship. However, both Memory Alpha and Memory Beta assume it to be the prefix for all Romulan warbird ships, unless contradicted by another source.
