In the mirror universe, the ISS Defiant was a starship in service of the Terran Empire in the 23rd century. The Defiant was destroyed by a Tholian force led by Loskene in 2268, after Loskene had demanded the Defiant retreat. Its recording beacon was recovered from the Defiant's wreckage by the ISS Enterprise. Despite standard precedure to retaliate against any military that attacks a Terran vessel the Empire did not respond to this particular attack, per the recommendation of Captain Spock to Emperor Gill in light of the Empire's greater concern at the time with the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. The Defiant's class is not specified by the source. However, its destruction at the hands of a Tholian force led by Loskene in 2268 might indicate that it is the mirror universe counterpart to the Constitution-class USS Defiant (NCC-1764) from the TOS episode: "The Tholian Web". Through a Glass, Darkly does not incorporate information from the mirror universe as seen in the ENT episode: "In a Mirror, Darkly", as it was released shortly before the episode. However, in light of the events of that story, if this Defiant is a Constitution-class starship, it might be the prime reality starship itself, still in service more than a century after arriving in the mirror universe. It could also be a newer Constitution-class vessel with the same name.
