The ISS Intrepid (NCC-1631) was a Constitution-class starship in the service of the Terran Empire during the late 2290s. During the supposed rebellion of Captain Sulu and the crew of the ISS Excelsior, the Intrepid, along with the ISS Constellation, were assigned as escorts to the deadly planet killer, which the Terrans had harnessed control of recently and were using to subjugate the Klingon Alliance. By the time the ISS Excelsior arrived in Klingon space, most of the territory had been devastated by the planet killer. Fortunately, Captain Hikaru Sulu of the USS Excelsior, trapped in the body of his counterpart, was able to stop the weapon by disabling the ISS Kodos and allowing the planet killer to swallow it, depleting its power fully after it had already been significantly weakened from attacks from three K'tinga-class battlecruisers. The Intrepid and Constellation were initially believed destroyed by a combined fleet of Excelsior fighters, Klingon birds-of-prey, and Klingon Hunters, but later reports indicate at least one of the vessels may have escaped back to Terran space.
