The ISS Ranger was a Miranda-class starship in the service of the Terran Empire during the 2290s.

The Ranger, along with the ISS Enterprise-A and ISS Excelsior, met at a secret rendezvous within the Janus Prime vortex This meeting was part of a plot by Captain Sulu to lead a rebellion against the empire.

Unfortunately, the plot initially failed when he and his crew were swept into the prime universe and replaced the Captain Sulu and crew of the USS Excelsior. As the meeting began, the Enterprise's Commander Pavel Chekov revealed his knowledge of Sulu's treachery and intention to halt it in its tracks. The Enterprise suddenly locked full phasers on the Ranger and fired, destroying her warp nacelles and roll bar with two shots. The resulting chain reaction caused her to explode in a huge fireball that scattered debris across the vortex.
