The Icarus-class was a type of Federation starship that were in Starfleet service in the early-to-mid 23rd century. By the mid-2260s, the Icarus-class vessels had largely been phased out of service and replaced by newer starship classes, however, Starfleet began recommissioning Icarus-class vessels in 2267 as Starfleet Command prepared for war with the Klingon Empire. During the Battle of Donatu V in 2244, two Icarus-class vessels, the USS Endeavour and USS Yorkshire, were involved in the battle against Klingon forces. (TOS novels: Killing Blow, Seeds of Rage)
