Imzadi (pronounced em-ZAH-dee) was a Betazoid word which closely translated into English as "beloved", and was frequently used as a term of endearment. When William T. Riker and Deanna Troi met each other for the first time for several years on the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D, Troi called him imzadi telepathically. (TNG episode: "Encounter at Farpoint")
