Characteristics and historyEdit

Indurite, in its most stable form, has an atomic mass of 322, and was discovered by the Federation for the first time through contact with the Skorr civilization. This metal is part of the trans-uranic series of heavy elements. (ST reference: Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual)

Alar, a leader of the Skorr, had his thought patterns preserved in an indurite sculpture called the "Soul of the Skorr". (TAS episode & Star Trek Log Five novelization: The Jihad)

In the year 2373, Rom suggested to Quark that Grilka may have had possessions made of indurite. (DS9 - Prophecy and Change short story: "... Loved I Not Honor More")

In 2381, the USS Titan discovered an asteroid on course for Droplet that was partly comprised of indurite. (TTN novel: Over a Torrent Sea)

BackgroundEdit

In real-life science, element 124 has yet to be discovered. A placeholder name based on its number, "unbiquadium", has been suggested to document the possible existence of this substance. Some models of theoretical science have stated that heavy elements on this scale may be impossible to synthesize or reproduce, and cannot exist in nature. Subspace science mentioned in Star Trek may account for the contradiction of this being a resource on other worlds.
