The Interface was 21st century communications network on Earth that was operated by Interface Operations. The Interface allowed individuals to log onto the internet and also offered other features, such as news broadcasts.
In 2024, Benjamin Sisko, Julian Bashir and others in Sanctuary District A attempted to access the Interface during the Bell Riots, but were cut off by the San Francisco Police Department. Later, Jadzia Dax pursuaded Christopher Brynner to allow access to the Interface so that residents of the Sanctuary Districts could demonstrate that they did not deserve to be incarcerated there by relating their stories. In 2053, the Interface was disabled by a viral assault at the start of the Third World War. (ST short story: "The Immortality Blues")
