An inverter, commonly known as a folded-space transport module, was an item of technology that allowed instantaneous transport from one location to another, similar to a transporter.

An inverter was a folded-space transporter which—rather than breaking down a subject to a matter stream and beaming it to a new location—moved the subject through folded-space domains to appear in the targeted location. This type of transportation was capable of cutting through energy and ion storms, as well as other atmospheric ionization distortions. The exit from folded-space was distinguished by a slowly fading flash of white light and energy. (ST - The Fall novel: The Poisoned Chalice)

Side effectsEdit

Unfortunately, folded-space domains were toxic to carbon-based lifeforms and dosed the subjects with high levels of radiation. Even with preventative hyronalin treatments, folded-space transportation was extremely dangerous and caused agonising levels of pain akin to burning during transit. (ST - The Fall novel: The Poisoned Chalice)

Notable usesEdit

In the year 2385, Active Four utilised inverters to transport from the SS Snipe to IN-748, cutting through the ionization effects of its atmosphere. The design they used was a hexagonal device attached to an armband. (ST - The Fall novel: The Poisoned Chalice)
