Ira Steven Behr is a writer and producer best known to Star Trek fans for his work in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He can be seen in the background of the scene set in Vic Fontaine's lounge in "What You Leave Behind".

He also wrote The Ferengi Rules of Acquisition (credited to Quark "as told to" Behr), and Legends of the Ferengi with Robert Hewitt Wolfe (again, credited to Quark "as told to" Behr and Wolfe, a fact "Quark" acknowledges in the introduction). In 1998, Behr wrote the introduction of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual.

Behr worked on Star Trek: The Next Generation prior to DS9 and is now an executive producer and a writer of the popular show The 4400. Between Deep Space Nine and The 4400, Behr worked on The Twilight Zone, Bob Patterson, Dark Angel and Dr. Vegas.
