Iridium is a chemical element which is used in the repair of starships. Iridium has an atomic number of 77, is represented by the symbol Ir, and has a very brief half-life.

After his ship suffered damage in 2262, Captain R.M. Merik was forced to take the SS Beagle to planet 892-IV and send a landing party down to obtain some iridium. (TOS episode: "Bread and Circuses")

While performing a survey of a planet in the Hobus star system in 2387, Ayel, science officer of the Narada, detected trace amounts of iridium and deuterium, as well as large deposits of decalithium. (ST comic: "Countdown, Number One")
