Ishtar Station was a civilian, Starfleet-supported Federation space station in orbit of Venus. The station was the control center of the Project Ishtar terraforming effort. Station Ishtar supported the 14 ground stations on the Venusian surface, and received data from a network of automated supply satellites forming a ring around Venus. Presumably, Ishtar Station was named for the Ishtar Terra continent on Venus. (SCE eBook: Ishtar Rising, Book 1)
In early 2288, the starship USS Enterprise-A docked at Ishtar Station for crew shore leave rotation. While there, security chief Commander Pavel Chekov was believed to have been exposed to certain biological irritants which were later mistakenly thought to have triggered an allergic reaction a week or two later while on patrol in the Savinia system.
