John Ronald Reuel "J. R. R." Tolkien (3 January 1892 - 2 September 1973) was a British author and poet who lived on Earth during the 19th and 20th centuries.

He was the author of the fantasy works The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion. (TOS - Constellations short story: "Make-Believe"; DS9 novel: Lesser Evil) The former was adapted into a highly regarded film trilogy in the early 21st century. (TOS - Constellations short story: "Make-Believe")
