For the 20th century individual of the same name, see: J. Ramirez (20th century).

J. Ramirez was a 23rd century Human individual who was an officer cadet in Starfleet Academy during the 23rd century. He was among the top students of his class.

HistoryEdit

Around 2245, he was killed and replaced by Klingon agents who were hoping to steal the prototype Federation starship NX-0002, for a short shakedown cruise under the command of Admiral Charles Rasmussen. At some point, around the time when Starfleet's transporter was taken offline because of unauthorized transports being detected, Ramirez was caught in a beam and rematerialized in a shallow grave, where he died due to his body being merged with the surrounding material. By the time Ramirez's body was discovered, a Klingon who had been altered to resemble him had already left Earth aboard the vessel and had begun planning a murderous attack against the ship's crew of trainees and cadets. (TOS - Crew comic: "Shakedown")

All of the cadets of "Shakedown" wore standard duty uniforms with officer's rank insignia and no corresponding assignment patch.
The name "J. Ramirez" also appears in Star Trek: Assignment: Earth, also written by John Byrne.
