Jacques Cousteau (11 June 1910 - 25 June 1997) was a famous Earth scientist who lived during the 20th century. He explored oceans on his ship, the Calypso.

In the year 2294, Montgomery Scott claimed that Spock was as big a star in the documentary world as Jacques Cousteau ever was. (TOS novel: The Fearful Summons)

Two of the captain's yachts on the USS Enterprise-E were named after the explorer, Cousteau (I) and Cousteau (II). (TNG movie: Star Trek: Insurrection, TNG - A Time to... novel: A Time to Be Born, TNG - Typhon Pact novel: Paths of Disharmony)
