For the primary universe counterpart, see Sean Finnegan.

In the Kelvin timeline, Jake Finnegan was a 23rd century Human male. (TOS - Starfleet Academy novel: The Assassination Game)

Biography[]

Finnegan attended Starfleet Academy in the 2250s decade. In 2255, he was an upperclassman student and picked on first year cadet James T. Kirk. During the Assassination Game organised by Nadja Luther, participating cadets had to play tag by tracking their target and touching them with a spork while nobody else was around. Finnegan's target was Cadet Kirk.

During the first attempt, Finnegan tracked Kirk down in a chemistry lab. Kirk spilled chemicals and scared Finnegan off by telling him the resulting mix was the highly explosive corbomite. During the second attempt, Jake followed James to the Warp Core bar on Academy grounds. Kirk left the Warp Core in the company of another cadet.

The third attempt was in quarters assigned to visiting Varkolak Assembly delegates. A fight erupted between the two cadets but was interrupted by Captain Lartal, alpha of the Varkolak. (TOS - Starfleet Academy novel: The Assassination Game)

By the 2260s, Finnegan was a Starfleet officer who held the rank of Commander. By 2263 Finnegan was the officer in charge of Yorktown Station's headquarters facility.

In addition to supervising station operations, Finnegan also supervised traffic control around the station. In January of 2263, Finnegan watched as a fleet of Swarm ships under Krall attacked the base. Luckily the USS Franklin under Captain James T. Kirk was able to give Finnegan the disruption frequency and was able to broadcast it. Finnegan then assisted Commander Scott and Jaylah in shutting down the atmospheric processor before Krall could deploy the Abronath. However, Finnegan claimed that was impossible to do. (TOS movie: Beyond)
