Jarel was a Bajoran male and artist as well as the cousin of Darrah Karys.

In 2323, Jarel was killed in the explosion aboard Cemba Station as he oversaw a delivery of mistwood from Rigel which he was going to use for one of his projects. Karys was forced to identify his body after the incident. (TLE - Terok Nor novel: Day of the Vipers)
