Jas-qal was a B'kaazi and a "business associate" of Quark, basically a henchman of the Ferengi. In 2369, he was on Deep Space 9 soon after the Cardassians had left and Starfleet had arrived. (DS9 novelization: Emissary)

Jas-qal and Nog attempted to steal several ore samples from storage on the Promenade. Kira Nerys and Odo detected them and they rushed to arrest them. When Jas-qal was confronted by Odo, he attempted to throw a weapon at the Changeling, although Odo simply morphed his face into its traditional appearance, and Jas-qal's weapon passed harmlessly through. Jas-qal attempted to run past Odo, but was tackled and apprehended. Benjamin Sisko fired and phaser above their heads and Jas-qal was lead away to the security office by several Bajoran deputies. In 2370, when armed Cardassians stormed Quark's Place searching for the deserter Berat, Jas-qal threw an entire dabo table at two Cardassians. (DS9 novel: Betrayal)
