Jeffrey Nelson was a Maquis member who was given the rank of Crewman aboard the USS Voyager when it was thrown to the Delta Quadrant. He was born on Earth in Chinook, Montana on 22 November 2353, and became a member of the Hazard Team's Beta Squad.

Early Life[]

The son of a rancher, he attended art school after showing great promise in painting and sculpture. But during his first semester he and several friends took spring break on Luna; that one trip was enough to show Jeff the beauty of space - he fell in love with it instantly. He soon applied to Starfleet Academy and was accepted. Halfway through his first year Jeff quit, not wanting to wait for graduation to travel to distant worlds. He wandered for a time, working on freighters and doing odd jobs until he hooked up with the Maquis. He found their fight with Starfleet and the Cardassians to be a type of hopeless battle that he wanted to be a part of.

Joining Voyager and the Hazard Team[]

When the Maquis and Voyager crews combined Nelson began to see the value of Starfleet and now regrets his decision to leave the Academy. He was given the rank of Crewman, and worked basic odd jobs around the ship. When the Hazard Team tryouts were announced, Jeff saw this as an opportunity to have a standing place on the ship, and auditioned. He was granted a place on the team's Beta squad.

He went on one away mission during the Vohrsoth crisis to a Borg cube, where he was shot and critically injured. He was sent back to the ship and made a full recovery.

It is assumed that Nelson returned with the rest of the crew when Voyager escaped the Delta Quadrant through the Borg transwarp hub. It is likely he received a Starfleet security assignment either on another starship or a space station, since he did not join the reformed Hazard Team aboard the USS Enterprise-E in 2380. Appendices[]

Trivia[]

If the player takes too long to fight off the Borg after Nelson is shot and wounded, Nelson will die. This has little effect on the overall plot, however.
