Commander Jennifer Nero was a 24th century Human female who was serving as the first officer of the USS Ranger in 2381.

During the invasion by the Borg Collective of that year, the Ranger was stationed to protect the Klingon planet Khitomer, one of five simultaneous attacks. Captain Peter Pachal was killed in the attack, leaving Nero in charge. She decided to utilize the vessel's molecular pulse inverter to slip through the Borg cube's shields and detonate their stores of torpedoes to destroy the enemy. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night)
